Fulton Mall is a six-block long pedestrian area that has become the center of the business district. From the very early days of Fresno, this corridor has been the heart of the downtown Fresno area. In Fresno California hotels, shops, restaurants and culture abound. Fulton Mall was built in 1964 as part of an urban renewal project and is home to many of Fresno’s most historic buildings. In fact, the mall has gained international recognition as an important modernist landscape.
Market on the Mall is a certified farmer’s market that offers a wide variety of farm fresh produce and agricultural goods. The market, a cooperative venture between the Fresno County EOC, the Downtown Association of Fresno and the City of Fresno, is located on the Fulton Mall at Mariposa and, according to Mayor Ashley Swearengin, is playing a large role in the revitalization of downtown Fresno. The Market’s convenient central location and midday time make it convenient for thousands of Downtown workers, jurors, Fresno hotels, FAX bus riders, and EOC voucher clients.
The Downtown Art Hop happens the first Thursday of every month and gives people a chance to peruse galleries, studios and museums across downtown Fresno. It’s organized by the Fresno Council and offers a great opportunity to talk and interact with local artists.
